Stylist Shears
Big Tease, The (Widescreen) If you've got it, flaunt it. Or in the case of Scottish hairdresser Crawford Mackenzie, snip, curl, tint, shape and blow-dry it. Mackenzie comes from Glasgow to Los Angeles with a documentary filmmaker in tow recording his journey to compete in a stylists competition for the prestigious Platinum Scissors Award. But the best-laid schemes of mousse and men go wrong: Mackenzie's invitation to the even is in error. "The Big Tease" is big fun, a fish-out-of-water tale teeming with charm and a hilariously satiric view of life in L.A. Craig Ferguson ("The Drew Carey Show") heads a vibrant cast as Mackenzie, the licensed-to-style hero determined to enter the contest and create a hairdo to claim the coveted shears. It's a case of do or dye.

These deviations from the traditional rock and roll band formula were facilitated by the Beatles' decision not to tour. This album in many ways represented the culmination of a period of experimentation in Beatles music that had begun with their album Rubber Soul two years earlier. There is certainly reason to believe that it provided the initial inspiration for the record. After that, the Beatles begun to return to more conventional expressions of their music. It was recorded by The Beatles over a 129 day period from December 6, 1966. However, The Beatles essentially abandoned the concept after the first two songs (and the ending) so the other songs on the album, in slightly modified forms, seems to give an overall theme to the album.
